FEATURES:

Storm Warning
The 2005-06 college basketball and football seasons highlighted a growing and disturbing trend in sports: Fans rushing the playing surface after a win — not necessarily a championship win, but almost any win might spark it. For officials that means a lot of potential danger.

Web Works
It wasn’t long ago that officials were considered technologically advanced if they had a cell phone. Officials associations routinely relied on handwritten assignment sheets delivered through the mail. Most associations have moved past those scenarios in recent years, utilizing video, e-mail and the Internet more often. Now officiating leaders from local, state and national organizations are utilizing those contemporary tools, making their officiating programs user-friendly, cost effective and easily accessible.

Countdown to Your Next Game
Forget about rules, mechanics and philosophy for a while and dive into the work you do before every game, like arranging carpools, packing your game bag, getting your paperwork in order and attending association meetings. Don’t miss this guide to the pregame before your pregame.

Basic Training: With Friends Like These...
The old saying goes, “The only friends an official has are his or her partners on the game.” While that’s mostly true, when we put our street clothes back on, most of us at least have a few pals, buddies or acquaintances. The problem is, they don’t always like officials.
