Success is measurable, but it’s only measurable by the person striving to attain it. You are the only one who knows what degree of success you’re capable of or willing to go after.
__Zaborniak, Clougherty and Parry each have spent years getting to their current positions in the officiating community. And now, they’re out there sharing what they know, helping others to get what they want out of officiating. “There are probably 150,000 interscholastic officials in this country. Probably double that number of recreation and youth league officials,” Zaborniak told the assembled crowd at the NASO convention. “You’ve got to go out there and remind folks about accountability and about character, and the best way to do that is through educational and training programs.”
__He also stressed that competent, informed officials cannot wait on the sidelines for others to learn on their own. “You‘ve got to pick up the ball and go to them,” he said, “You can’t wait for somebody else to do it.” Parry knows there is still plenty of room for improvement. “We are always looking for ways to get better,” he stressed. Ultimately, a never-ending strive for excellence is the surest way to get what you want.
