The Road Twice Traveled (Referee 6/01) You can summarize MLB umpire Phil Cuzzi in one word: persistent. On the cusp of breaking into the majors in 1993, Cuzzi was instead released from Triple-A and cast out of baseball. Three years later, a chance meeting with then-NL President Len Coleman set Cuzzi back on the road to the majors, starting all over again in the low minors. He lived by his fathers words, "No matter what it is youre going to do, just make sure you do it the best you can. And dont let anyone tell you that you cant."
