Who Profits? (Referee 11/01) OfficialsÕ camps have become a multi-million dollar cottage industry led by many ex-officials whoÕve become supervisors. Therein lies part of the dilemma: Some referees claim that supervisors who run camps unfairly use their powerful positions to, in effect, force officials to spend large sums of money to attend camps if they want to move up the ranks. Here are the pros, the cons and the business side of the officiating camps.
