Referee is the leading resource for sports officials, offering essential information, education, and support. We publish a monthly magazine, numerous books, and a wide range of digital content. Additionally, we manage NASO, the nation’s largest officiating education and advocacy organization.
About the Role:
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Editorial Content Creator to join our dynamic team in Racine, Wis. The ideal candidate will bring a blend of officiating expertise and exceptional writing/editing skills. This is an in-office position, with relocation assistance available for the right candidate.
Responsibilities:
Content Creation:
Write engaging articles, features, and other content for Referee magazine, books, and digital platforms.
Editing:
Oversee and refine contributor and freelance pieces to ensure high-quality and consistent style.
Community Support:
Provide guidance on rules, mechanics, and best practices to the officiating community.
Project Management:
Assist with production and timely delivery of publications and editorial projects.
Collaboration:
Partner with design, marketing, and other departments to achieve project goals.
Qualifications:
Essential:
- Proven experience as a sports official at the high school level or higher (basketball, baseball, football, softball, soccer, or volleyball preferred).
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Preferred:
- Experience in print and/or online journalism.
- Multi-sport officiating experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, English, or a related field.
