1 On a goalkick by A4, A7 collects the ball inside the penalty area and dribbles the ball downfield before passing it ahead to A11.

2  In an effort to read A4’s intent while taking a penalty kick, goalkeeper B1 moves laterally along the goalline, then takes two steps forward prior to the ball being struck. The referee allows play to continue and the ball rebounds off the upright back to where B2, B3 and B4 are able to closely challenge A4 for the ball with B4 clearing the ball. The referee should:

3  B2 pulls A10 off the ball just outside the penalty area, but in the process A10 sends a pass that is collected by A11 in the penalty area, and then A11 scores. Having clearly seen the foul, the correct referee action is to:

4 A10 makes a play on goal, but the ball is kicked upfield by goalkeeper B1 and intercepted by A7. A10, now in an offside position, makes no attempt to become involved in the next phase of play between teammates.

5  A8 shoots the ball toward team B’s goal. The ball strikes B7’s hand, denying team A’s goal. In the opinion of the referee, that was not a deliberate act by B7.

6 A shot is taken by A2 and rebounds off the goalpost to A3, who was in an offside position at the moment of the shot. A3 controls the ball and plays it into team B’s goal. The proper restart is:

7  B5, in an effort to reach the ball that appears to be going to A8, extends his or her arms and grabs A8’s jersey, moving A8 from his or her original position. B5 comes away from the encounter with the ball.

8  A8, while in an offside position, intercepts a pass from B3 to goalkeeper B1.

9  While holding the ball in the penalty area, goalkeeper A1 is injured and unable to clear the ball. The referee should:

10 Goalkeeper B1 handles the ball within team B’s goal area after it was thrown directly to B1 by B5.

11 With the certified athletic trainer called to attend to A9, team A’s coach enters the field and gathers the players to instruct them for the restart.

12 A7, having already been cautioned, commits a second cautionable offense. The referee displays the yellow card, then the red card. As A7 leaves the field, A7 spits at the referee and uses foul language.

13 Team A is awarded a corner kick. Prior to the ball going out of play, A12, A14 and B13 had reported to the scorer’s table (or nearest assistant, if no scorer is present/used).

14 A7 takes a corner kick that hits the goalpost and rebounds directly back to A7, who then kicks the ball directly into the goal.

15 The referee awards a penalty kick to team A with three seconds on the stadium clock. Goalkeeper B1 saves the penalty kick, but deflects the ball directly back to kicker A8, who kicks the ball into the goal. Should the goal be allowed?

16  B2 misplays the ball while trying to clear it from the defensive end after winning it from an attacker. The clearance goes directly into the team B goal. What happens next?

17  After a goal has been scored, what must the referee do?

18  During the pregame field inspection, the referee finds that unsecured portable goals are to be used.

19 B3 realizes that his or her position is holding the attacking team onside in the penalty area and steps off the field over the goalline signaling to the referee about being out of play. Meanwhile a shot comes off the goalpost and is collected by A9, who now appears to be in an offside position. A9 shoots are scores.

20 After a bit of clever footwork that fools B3, A10 returns to B3 and says, “You’re nothing. I beat you.”

21 Before A5 takes a throw-in, the referee notices that A4 spit at B3. What should the referee do? What is the restart?
